The mini tournament in Genkai’s arc is better than most tournament arcs in other series. Genkai’s arc shows the power levels and explains a bit more about the power system. Artifacts arc introduced Kurama and Hiei and gave us a peek into their characters. With each mini-arc, we get to introduce new characters, the demons, the power system, the world-building, the fights, etc. Each individual is unique and has some great personality traits. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei all join together over the course of this saga and their group dynamic is one of the best in the shonen ever. They are Yusuke’s ordeals, Artifacts arc, Genkai’s arc, Maze Castle arc, Yukina rescue arc. This is a mega saga that contains five small arcs. I think this arc could have done better if it had high stakes or tension. The character designs of the new demons were amazing. The demon world and its culture, its class system were interesting to look at. Having said that, this arc still has its great moments. Also, our protagonists are too powerful now that the element of fear or mystery has faded. This tournament arc wasn’t as engaging as the dark tournament as the stakes weren’t high. Finally, Yusuke returns to the earth to live with his friends. Finally, Enki wins the tournament after several hard-fought battles and becomes the king. We get to meet new powerful demons in that world. On Yusuke’s suggestion, a tournament is held to find the next king for that world. Yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei all travel to the demon world. Netflix and Toho Studios are currently in pre-production of a live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series.This arc focuses on the tournament held in the demon world. Additionally, the IP is making a comeback in more ways than one. Yu Yu Hakusho Genkai Battle Spirits will release on Android and iOS devices in Japan. The first milestone will net players 150 Rurimaru if 50,000 people pre-register. Depending on how many people pre-register for the title, the developer will give out the tentatively-named Rurimaru. Mobcast Games is currently running a promotion where players can earn bonus in-game currency. The game will be an action-RPG with leveling mechanics. The upcoming title will be free-to-play with optional microtransactions. To commemorate opening pre-registration, Mobcast Games launched a renewed website and released a web commercial with singer Maki Goto. The game never released, but the company announced it was again developing it in November 2020. The title appeared in Jump Festa articles back in 2019, when it was supposed to launch.
Mobcast Games did not provide a release window, however people in the region can sign up. Originally planned to release back in 2019, the game reappeared now with a new promotion, new key art, and an updated website. Mobcast Games opened pre-registration in Japan for the upcoming mobile title Yu Yu Hakusho Genkai Battle Spirits.
